Blumarine’s little sister, Blugirl, was a fun après-ski array of goat-hair boots, fur bonnets and earmuffs and fur vests crowning a flirty assortment of skirts, shorts and cute little dresses. The overall 1960?s flavor took form mostly within the embroidered shift dresses and mod styled pieces. The fun factor didn’t only come with the colors. As usual, Fendi delivered with a collection for fall 2012 that shows what can be done with furs and the latest technologies. There isn’t anything Fendi isn’t willing to tackle and to master in the process when it comes to fur design. This collection embraced the sartorial shapes of the 17th, 18th and 19th century specifically – if not in a random order – picking out distinct garment details and assigning them to wholly new ones. The idea behind this particular collection was much more about hybrid experimentation – innovations in mixing fur types. Sounds a little odd, and it is, but once separated from the group, each piece asserts its own masterful handling, flaunting that Fendi touch.
